PRELIM TASK: Masthead and Font Decisions

When deciding on a font for the masthead of my college magazine ‘HIGHLIGHT’, I knew that I wanted it to look clean, sharp and easy to read. I considered using fonts 1, 2 and 3, from dafont.com, however I found that they looked too cartoonish for my magazine, which is meant to be focused on aiding school studies and exams. I also looked at 'classic school fonts’, however I found them difficult to read, like font 4.

Even though the fonts were similar, and the main differences between them were the angle of which they were slanted by, however I chose the following font because I thought it matched the name of my magazine the best.

Once I had chosen the font for the masthead, I experimented with the ‘Stroke’ feature, because I wanted my masthead to literally be highlighted. I also experimented with features like ‘Bevel and Emboss’ and ‘Drop Shadow’, which are elements which I decided to include to enhance the masthead. My final choice for the masthead was C.
